Sometimes the unexpected is where the magic is. As Rachel and Roderick start their rustic engagement session, we had found just that. With hay in one hand, and Mickey ears in the other, I knew this rustic inspired photoshoot was going to be fun!
We began our trip toward Ruidoso, however along the way, we found a hidden gem. Tucked away, I knew the field was perfect for the couple’s desire to create a rustic ambience. We started on a small dirt road, framed by the beautiful greenery, and calm lake. Taking the pictures felt like I was seeing their playful love for each other on any other day. Not forced or stiff, I was able to catch them being authentically them.
Not far from the first location, I saw the small, seemingly unused barn. The texture of the timeworn wood against Rachel’s soft orange dress contrasted perfectly. They wanted rustic, and this was, without a doubt, rustic. I placed their carefully selected props of hay and personalized letters for the finishing touch. As you can see, subtle props are a great way to add to your photos without overwhelming the entire picture!
As our day came to a close, I knew I had to take advantage of the amazing landscape and changing sky. Under a blanket of clouds, surrounded by nature’s beauty, Rachel and Roderick’s sweet, and loving embraces ended a beautiful engagement session.
