Ten years ago, I had the honor of photographing Catherine and Claudio’s wedding day.
As I look back through their photographs today, I’m reminded of something I often tell couples: the wedding day goes by quickly, but the story doesn’t end there.
A decade has passed since they said “I do.”
In those ten years, they’ve traveled, built a life together, welcomed twins into their family, and continued choosing each other through every season of life.
Recently, I reached out to Catherine and Claudio and asked them a few questions about their wedding day, their marriage, and what their photographs mean to them today.
Their answers were a beautiful reminder of why preserving memories matters.

What Is Your Favorite Memory From Your Wedding Day?
“There are so many special memories from our wedding day, but one that stands out is our first look.
We went back and forth on whether it was the right choice because we didn’t want to take away from the moment of seeing each other at the altar. Looking back, it was absolutely the right decision for us.
Having that quiet moment together, away from everyone else, allowed us to take it all in and truly connect before the celebration began. It was such a special memory that we will cherish forever.”
As a photographer, I often see couples wrestle with this decision. Reading Catherine’s answer reminded me why those quiet moments can be so meaningful.
A wedding day moves quickly. Creating a little space to slow down and simply be together can become one of the memories that stays with you long after the day is over.

What’s Something You’ve Learned In Ten Years Of Marriage?
“One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is to do everything on your own timeline.
As soon as we got married, people constantly asked when we were going to have kids, but we chose to focus on each other first. We spent years traveling, visiting vineyards, and making memories as a couple doing the things we loved together.
Taking care of your marriage and nurturing your relationship is so important. In our case, timing was everything, and we were eventually blessed with a twin boy and girl.
Even now, with children, we make it a priority to continue spending quality time together and doing the things that brought us together in the first place.”
This answer struck me.
In a world that often encourages comparison, Catherine’s reminder to do life on your own timeline feels especially important.
Marriage isn’t a race.
It’s a relationship that grows one season at a time.

What Do Your Wedding Photographs Mean To You Today?
“Our wedding photographs mean so much to us because they beautifully capture one of the most important days of our lives.
Every time we look through them, we’re reminded not only of the love and joy we felt that day, but also of how blessed we are to have found each other and built this wonderful life together.
They preserve the memories, emotions, and little details that made our wedding day so special and serve as a reminder of the journey we’ve shared over the past 10 years.”
This is one of the reasons I believe so strongly in wedding photography.
Not because of the wedding day itself.
But because photographs become more meaningful as time passes.
They become reminders of where you started, who you were, and how far you’ve come together.

Looking Back
Ten years is a beautiful milestone.
It’s a decade of memories, adventures, challenges, growth, and countless ordinary moments that slowly become extraordinary when viewed in hindsight.
Reading Catherine’s answers reminded me that a wedding day is only the beginning.
The flowers are gone. The music has faded. The timeline that felt so important has long been forgotten.
What remains are the relationships.
The memories.
The life that was built together afterward.
Perhaps that’s why wedding photographs become more meaningful with time.
They remind us not only of what happened that day, but of where the journey began.
Happy 10th Anniversary, Catherine and Claudio.
Thank you for trusting me with a small part of your story all those years ago.
This article is part of a series called Ten Years Later, where I reconnect with past couples and reflect on the lives they’ve built since their wedding day.

Hey there!
Welcome to the journal, I hope you will find good ideas for your wedding day!
I am Stephane, I moved from Paris France to live in El Paso, Texas.
Photographing couples since 2010.

I believe photographs are not just images, but emotional time capsules, holding the laughter, the quiet in-between moments, and the love that passes too quickly on a wedding day.
